Yes. When you are accepted to join any co-operative you will need to purchase a ‘membership share’. This amount for Freshwinds is currently TBD. Membership applications will be provided to those who have contacted Freshwinds, and are on the ‘interested’ list, when the membership drive begins in Fall 2026. If you’d like to be on this list, please click on ‘Contact Us’ and complete the form. Once our step-by-step membership process is confirmed, it will be published on this website. This will also include more details about costs, as well as our policies.
Freshwinds is a co-operative and isn’t tied to a specific income level. We want stable housing to be more accessible to all. That’s why 21 eligible members will have their costs geared to their income, paying no more than 30% of their household income toward occupancy costs, through a program associated with NB Housing. For the remaining members, initial costs will be comparable to other new local apartments or townhomes of similar size.
Freshwinds works in partnership with New Brunswick's Department of Social Development to offer housing subsidies for up to 21 qualifying lower-income residents. If you think you may qualify, we encourage you to get on our waitlist and to also contact Housing NB:
Sustainable building choices and lifestyle practices mean lower bills and a smaller environmental footprint. Our buildings will be well-insulated, and we will contribute renewable energy sources to offset heating and cooling costs. The less we depend on fluctuating oil and electricity prices to stay warm or cool, the more predictable and affordable our living costs will be, year-round.
